I have read something that goes like this; Reading is good because it allows you to absorb new ideas but writing is essential to actualize your thoughts. I agree with the statement. Sometimes you get new ideas from your reading but overtime if you never really put it into thoughts, you might lost the essence.
When I stopped writing for a while, I always doubt my ability to construct a decent sentence or even to speak and write about my feelings and thoughts. I feel that I am losing the ability to present myself as well as the opportunity to record what could be essential to my well-being in the long run. I mean we do forget a lot of things and unless we put it into words, those things that we experienced before may only come once in a while in a form of flashback which sometimes do not present itself accurately or in fragment. It then, can become a false memory.
Words are memories, our memories of the present situation we are in. It can help us reminiscing the past and it might even help us to analyze our thoughts. Nonetheless, it is the prove of our existence in this world.
Have you ever tried to recall back your childhood that you ended up feeling frustrated because nothing comes to your mind? Maybe there are but it is incomplete. You do not remember who or what is the name of your friend or even if you remember the person you no longer remember when it happened and where it occurred?
How about our ancestor? My race greatly depended on oral history to trace down their ancestor or their roots. There is no specific writing to read and to learn about their past. It is sometimes disappointing to not know much about our ancestor or about their way of life so we could learn more about them and about us. I or us don't even know what we have missed. As such, writing is something everybody must take into consideration when they can. It can always serve as a record that will help the future generation to understand the past.
Great dynasty in China and those developed countries have one thing in common: They have well-written and well-preserved records that when one wish to to overturn a statement/law they always need to look for the record.
I think the reason why the western is so much developed is because they keep records of past research which allow them to keep improving their technologies and so boost their technical skill in exceedingly high rate.
I wish one day our generation in this country do not only copy others but have their own identity through much learning and researching their own unique capacity to develop new things.
My wish is as much as consuming new stuff from other parts of the world that deemed new and advanced, we too learn how to do it well and better still know how to improvise it and it all start with education in the right way. Education which includes not only reciting text written but the ability to read and to write without succumbing to dogma.
We are a nation ready to become more if we know that we are indeed blessed with many opportunities just before our eyes. It is up to us to grab and use it accordingly.
