I watched this a few weeks ago and I would want to say;
1. I like Hugh Jackman and I still think he is a great actor. But having seen him in X-Men makes it hard for me not to compare his acting chop here and there. He did fine by the way, just that I think he is not so much in-sync with his "son- Max". To me, both were trying to step up their game and trying to get the most of their characters but unfortunately, it downplay their relationship as father and son. In what way? Well maybe the idea was for Max to be as stubborn as the dad but it came out "wrongly" because it gave me the "awkward" feeling as if ...well..it didn't feel sincere like a father- son relationship.
2. I love the idea of robots fighting against each other and that I must thank you 'Transformer" and of course who else but Micheal Bay. In this movie, the robot is robot, as in a human's invented machine that totally rely on people to put them to good use. I ached for Atom and Noisy Boy because as weird as it may seems, I felt for them and somehow I was hoping the director injected a few elements like the robot being able to speak up their mind because I was almost sure 'Zeus" gave a long side look at Max and that made Zeus more than a robot. It goes the same way for Atom. It is cute how it can dance well.
3. Because the story was of course about Atom, not much story was told or developed about Max and Charlie and about them finally becoming a real father and son. It was told but it was rushed and I could not feel the connection developed apart from their relationship with the robot. Did you feel anything?
4. I enjoyed the movie and of course if there is a next installment, I would make sure to watch it just to see how far Atom can go and how Max can finally be reunited with Charlie. I have a feeling the story isn't concluded just yet. Am I right??
5. Everyone should watch it because it is an "art". It is original in terms of concept. Who could have thought of robot's replacing human in the boxing arena?
6. I will give it 3.5 stars simply because it is entertaining. ^___^. Have fun!
