The Joy of Giving

Posted by Nikita at 8:39 PM

What is your take on giving?

I am little bit stingy. Reflecting on my attitude towards money, let just say if I can put a few words on it, I am someone who loves the idea of living frugally but also I love the idea of living at the moment. Now that is something hard to balance because needless to say the intuitive mind can possibly override the cognitive mind every time.

When it comes to giving, I am always hesitant. You know being selfish and all I tend to splurge money on everything for myself. What a bad girl I am. I know.

Lately though, being overwhelmed by selfish indulgence I have started to look on other things especially my parents now that they are getting older. I have been thinking about their future living expenses and means to live since they will no longer be able to work.

At such thought, I decided to start helping in bill payment not to mention regular allowance. If I want to start giving, I figured the best place to practice dilligently is home. Not that I never give them anything it just that it wasn't regular. Now, you know. *sheepishly smiling. By the way my mom is a pensioner and my parents have regular income from their SMALL palm oil farm. I am not starving them or whatsover in case you think I am heartless. * serious look. Ngehhhhh.

This month is a breakthrough for me in terms of giving. It is the reason why I am dying to talk about it. After so many years (I cant remember the last time I give joyfully) I actually feel the joy of giving. Apparently it's all in the mind. You have to decide firmly to give and only then you give. If you do that you will be joyful. It is simple isn't?

My next quest to be joyful in giving is the. . . .*secret.

Okay. Have fun giving, you know it is part of a blessing. You never know when it will return back to you. . .
